3DMark Drops Oppo Phones With Suspicious Benchmark Results
3DMark one of the benchmark mainstays has occasionally had to take action in regards to suspicious results, previously Huawei has this happen and this time Oppo it the target.
Tech 2 reported to 3DMark there was possible falsifying of results. The Oppo Find X and Oppo F7 have both been “delisted” from results with some results showing up to 41% higher when 3DMark tested with a private version of their app.
In response Oppo has stated the following:
“When we detect that the user is running applications like games or 3D Benchmarks that require high performance, we allow the SoC to run at full speed for the smoothest experience.
Due to the results 3DMark has concluded removing the results is the best option stating Under our rules, optimizing performance by detecting heavy computation demands is allowed. Simply detecting the benchmark app by name is not. A device must run the benchmark as if it were any other application.
